Name: MRCCA Districts

Display Field: DISTRICT

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: This shapefile depicts districts proposed as part of the formal rulemaking phase initiated by the April 11, 2016 publication of the Notice of Hearing to adopt proposed rules for the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area (MRCCA). The proposed rules contain standards for structure setbacks and structure height, which vary by each of the six proposed districts. Proposed district boundaries are drawn to approximately follow the centerlines of rivers and streams, highways, streets, lot lines, and municipal boundaries. The 2009 and 2013 Minnesota Legislatures directed the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to develop rules for the MRCCA. The boundary of the MRCCA is the same as the Mississippi National River and Recreation area (MNRRA), a unit of the National Park Service. This boundary is legally described in the State Register, volume 3, pages 1681 to 1691, and cannot be changed as part of this rulemaking. This cut of the dataset is districts near Brooklyn Park, dissolved by District Type.
